Symposium: Strengthening Innovation Systems in Development Cooperation

Several German Development organisations offer a "Seminar on Strengthening Innovation Systems" from 5th to 8th of October 2009, in Dortmund, Germany.

Background information: "How to strengthen innovation systems in private sector promotion?" is a key question German Development organisations have jointly reflected on during recent years. The working group on 'Promoting Innovation Systems' is now offering a practical seminar on the topic to create a common understanding among practitioners on the importance of innovation systems involving present approaches and cases for successful systemic support in this field.

Description
The objectives of the event are to
- Highlight the significance of innovation and innovation systems for economic development
- Develop an understanding of innovation systems
- Share experiences with the analysis of innovation systems and discuss elements of innovation system promotion programmes
- Communicate and network

An excursion illustrating innovation promotion in the Dortmund area will be part of the programme. The draft agenda with more details on the concept is attached. The first day, i.e. the symposium part, is free of charge while the seminar will cost € 750 per participant
